There are Nine Surgical Specialties:

Cardiothoracic Surgery: Focuses on the heart, chest and lungs.

General Surgery: Covers a wide area with sub-specialties such as breast surgery and gastro-intestinal surgery and colorectal surgery.

Neurosurgery: Deals with pathology of the brain and spinal cord.

Orthopaedic Surgery: Involves diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, disorders and diseases of the body’s bones and muscles.

Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery: Ear, nose and throat surgery, often referred to as ENT.

Paediatric Surgery: Encompasses all aspects of children’s surgery.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Deals with reconstructive and reshaping surgery and burns in all parts of the body.

Urology: Deals with treatment of diseases in the urinary tract, including the bladder, kidneys and prostate.

Vascular Surgery: Focuses on maintaining or restoring blood flow via arteries and veins all over the body.
What does starting with Locum Life look like?

You will be allocated a dedicated, experienced recruitment consultant within your field to discuss your ideal locum preferences including your availability, location, pay rate and duration.

Registration is easy. All we need to get you started is your CV, references and core docs (police clearance, working with children check, immunizations, etc). Don’t have them yet? Don’t worry – we can apply for them on your behalf online.

Your recruitment consultant will proactively source and present you Locum options to chose from. Once we have found you the one you like, we will put you forward to the health site and apply for that surgery job position on your behalf, including completing all of the required mandatory credentialing paperwork.

Once we have secured and confirmed your locum booking, we will organise everything needed to get you started, including travel, accommodation, pay and your arrival information.

What duration of placement is available?
Any duration between one day to six months. This depends on the hospital’s vacancies and your availability.
Is my travel and accommodation taken care of with my placement?
Yes, your consultant will identify travel arrangements where necessary. Our consultant will take in to consideration your preferences including flight times.
Are you able to find me permanent work?
Locum Life is presented with a wide range of positions daily. We are able to find you permanent or long term contract positions.
